Approved by RIBA, the Keymer factory tour is without doubt the nation’s most popular CPD presentation. At the factory in Burgess Hill, Sussex you will see every element that goes into making a genuine hand made clay tile.
From the digging and treatment of the Wealden clay from the on site clay pits through to the actual hand making process and the firing and sorting. Like no other factory tour, visitors will experience the traditional craft skills that have been passed down the generations from maker to maker.
If you are feeling brave enough you can even roll your sleeves up and try your hand at making a tile…which, as many have found out, is not quite as easy as it seems!
