Woodlands
Product Used: Traditional
Colour: Antique
Description:
A new residential property located in the rural countryside of Northern Essex has become a showcase for Keymer Tiles, since being short listed for ‘Best Self Build' at this year's Clay Roof Tile Council (CRTC) Roofing Awards.
‘Woodlands', originally an old farmhouse dating back hundreds of years, is a large two-winged property set amid a number of thatched, slated and tiled houses. For its sympathetic refurbishment, it was therefore crucial that the new house maintained all the characteristics of country design. Genuine hand made clay tiles from Keymer was the natural choice.
Owners of the property selected Keymer's Traditional tiles in Antique colour, as they best suited the proposed roof design and complement the red-brickwork.
The result is a stunning family home which has incorporated the highest quality, traditional materials, transforming the house into a fantastic showcase for Keymer hand made clay roof tiles.
Keymer has been hand-making tiles from their Sussex base for more than four centuries and their Traditional range is the original hand made clay tile, still made today in much the same way as it has always been and bearing the individual handprint of its maker on the reverse.
Hand made tiles, unlike machine made ‘hand crafted' tiles, have their own inimitable style offering variations in colour, texture and shape that simply cannot be replicated with machine made products and produce unique roofs that will mature and mellow with age.
The awards initiative aims to recognise the creative and innovative use of clay tiles in Britain as well as promoting the benefits of clay roof tiles as a timeless, quality building material.
