Farnham, Surrey
Product Used: Traditional
Colour: Antique
Description:
One of the oldest properties in Farnham, Surrey, dating back to 1476, has been returned to its glorious best with handmade clay roof tiles from Keymer. Over 9,000 of Keymer's Traditional tiles were used for the main roof restoration of the stunning Grade II Listed Building, situated immediately to the south of the River Wey.
When selecting the roof tiles, it was vital that they complemented the traditional gabled roof and 17th Century chimney stack, as well as the existing local architecture. Specified by Waverley Borough Council to replace delaminated and loose tiles, Keymer was chosen to ensure a high quality and sympathetic restoration in a rural, historical village setting.
Tiling and slating specialist M.J. Coleman & Sons was chosen to install the tiles which were supplied in a traditional red/black antique colour finish to be perfectly in keeping with Farnham's traditional architecture. They will weather naturally to achieve an even more attractive and genuine aesthetic with every year that passes.
Offering subtle variations in tone, texture and form, the handmade tiles provide an aesthetic appeal that cannot be replicated in contemporary machine production. With over 400 years of tile-making experience, Keymer remains committed to the traditional British craft of making tiles from locally quarried Wealden clay, produced using techniques that have been passed down through generations.
Approved by BSI British Standards and accredited to EN ISO 9002, the highest official standard in quality, Keymer's Traditional handmade clay tiles are hand tested to ensure all tiles meet with the company's demanding level of quality, to ensure exceptional performance that matches the stunning aesthetic.
Now complete to a striking finish, this charming village home once again features a stunning clay tile roof that retains the building's character, whilst perfectly complementing the historical vernacular. The spectacular renovation is a fine example of why for more than 400 years, Keymer tiles have been used to restore and enhance buildings all over the world.
