Description:
The re-roofing of Truth Hall, a quaint church hall in Edgware, has been carried out using a combination of Keymer's handmade Traditional ‘Elizabethan' clay tiles and club tiles. Eighty percent of the roof was finished using the decorative club tiles and the result is one of true beauty.
Originally built in 1833 as the village school, the hall situated next to St Margaret's Church, is now host to a whole range of community events and services, including a weekday coffee morning, Sunday School and adult education classes with creche.
The right choice of materials for this much loved building was essential. Specified for their established history and elite quality, the entire roof was stripped and re-roofed using Keymer's handmade clay tiles. "It was very important for us to keep the building close to its original state. It was a beautiful club tile roof adjacent to a Grade II listed church and probably worthy of listing in its own right," explained Hazel Aucken, Parish Administrator.
Approximately 10,000 tiles were used on the expertly tiled roof completed by Edgware Roofing Contractors. Contracts Manager, Shaun Byrne said, " I've been using Keymer tiles since I started almost twenty years ago and I still think they're the best tile around. I can't speak highly enough about the tiles, I love them. Ideally I'd like to use them on every roofing job we do because when you're working with a quality product, you're already winning. Truth Hall looks stunning."
Keymer has been producing hand made tiles for over four centuries, creating ranges with subtle variations in colour, texture and shapes that simply cannot be replicated with machine products.
